Cocktail Party Number 1

  • Many eager Lobbyists were at this cocktail party hoping to get some of the House and Senate members to support their bills and causes. Some of these lobbyists were more sucessful than others. In a private interview with some select press members, the congress men/women and President Smith admit that some people seem unprepared and that gives them suspisions about passing these people's bills. On the other hand, the Congress men/women were very impressed with the more prepared arguments. They especially liked lobbyists Zuckerman and Newman. The Congress said that Zuckerman and Newman had some great bills and were very well organized. The Congress will most definatly consider these bills.
  • Newman was Lobbying for John J. Astor and his fur trade. She belives that not everyone should be able to sell and trade furs and that a licence should be required. To recive a licence, sellers must ask permission from a congressman. Then that congressman will analize the persons request and if it seems logical they will grant that person a fur licence. Newman was just perfectly lovely to talk to and she even dressed the part.
  • Zuckerman is lobbying for the Builders Union. He wants people in public places to be safer. He plans to do this by putting medical stations with trained proffesionals in all large public areas such as rock concerts and baseball games. If there is an emergency these proffesionals will be there to help. The Builders Union that Zuckerman works for would benefit by building these stations around these sorts of locations. He also thinks that there should be free emergency phones in certain areas for people to use. These phones would have the adress where they are located writted on them so that the people calling can tell the police where to go. Zuckerman was open to the press and he was very good at conveying his ideas, however, later he became a little violent with lobbyist Walker when he flicked her in the ear.
  • Lobbyist Walker was reluctant to talk to the press at first but eventually opened up and let out her ideas. Walker wants grand amnesty granted to illigal immigrants who have a job. She belives that the illigal immigrants who have a steady job should be able to pay a small fee to become a citizen. All the money from these immigrants would go into protecting and fortifying the borders. In the end her bill was very well presented and will probably go far in the vote.
  • President Smith also had a wonderful bill. She wanted all land to be tested for endagered species before people build on it. There would be a special committee for this and if the land is found to be inhabited by indangered animals, either the animals will be taken to a zoo or the builders will be forced to find a better place to build.
  • Another well presented bill was Gaster (a member of the House). She was also very open to the press. She thinks that there should be a law against hazing in collages. When ferturnities make kids get drunk and do crazy things, Gaster thinks that everyone should be punished opposed to just the president, vise president, and the two people in charge of hazing. All the people involed should be punished because they were a part of it and they didn't try to do anything to stop it.
  • Jordan, who was lobbying for John D. Rockafeller, also had a nicley presented bill. He thinks that there should be a tax refund for stay at home mothers and fathers.
  • There were other bills that were not as strong and might not end as well as the others. Chimberoff of Virginia with his bill that kids should not be able to drink with their parents, O'Niel of Nebraska with her bill stopping animal cruelty, and lobbyist Bahr with his bill to prevent hyjacked vehicles are not very strong. These bills may in fact be very well written but they were not well presented.
